Overview of Activities
Expect to arrive at the Zoo by 5:30 p.m. We sit down, eat dinner, and unload the gear. The evening is filled with games, activities, an Amazing Animal Presentation, as well as a nocturnal tour of the Zoo. We close the evening with a nighttime snack. In the morning, we rise and shine and tour the zoo, getting to see what happens everyday before the Zoo even opens! We conclude at 9 a.m.
In order to reserve a date for Bunk With The Beasts, you will need to contact the Education Department with two or three possible dates that you are interested in. We will put you on our calendar, and you are then required to send in the reservation form and a $54 deposit in order to keep your date on the calendar. If, for any reason, you need to cancel your date, it must be done FOUR WEEKS in advance in order for you to receive a refund on your deposit.
Pricing
Bunk With The Beasts cost $27 per child. We require a minimum of one adult chaperone per four children, at a cost of $22 per adult. Any adults above the one to four ratio are welcome at a cost of $27 per person. All programs require a minimum of 15 people. Groups of less than 35 people sleep in the Z.O.T. Zone area.
What We Provide
As part of your Bunk With The Beast experience, we provide your group with pizza and drinks for dinner, as well as an evening snack. Each child will also leave the program with our special "Seneca Park Zoo Bunk With The
Beasts" Patch.
Additional Badge Work
We also provide the opportunity for scout groups to complete a Brownie or Junior Girl Scout badge. These are an additional $3 per scout, which includes all the craft supplies and activity fees, as well as the actual badge for the Girl Scouts. Only ONE badge can be earned during our program.
Sharing Your Program
We strongly encourage troops to be willing to share their Bunk With The Beasts experience with another troop. We have limited space and availability, which cannot keep up with the demand for our program. You have the choice to either pair up with another troop you may know, or we can pair you with a troop with similar ages and interests. If your group is smaller than 15 people (children and adults), you are required to share with another group.
What to Bring
Participants should bring with them a sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, and toiletries. It is also important to dress for the weather, as we will be outside for the tours. Most groups also bring their own breakfast, as we do not provide this; remember to bring any paper supplies you might need. Groups are also welcome to bring any additional snacks you might like.
