Q. How long is my membership valid?

Your membership is valid for one full year from the time of purchase.

Q. How can I purchase or renew a Zoo membership?

We offer four easy options:

  1. Online: Just fill out the appropriate information on our online membership system.
  2. By phone: Call the Membership Services Office at (585) 336-7212 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Purchases by phone will be accepted with a MasterCard, Visa, Discover or
    American Express.
  3. In person: At the Zoo's Front Gate seven days a week, between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. from April 1 to October 31, and between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. from November 1 to March 31. We will process your membership and give you a temporary card for free admission that day.
  4. Print and complete the membership application and mail it to: Seneca Park Zoo Society, 2222 St. Paul Street, Rochester, NY 14621.

Q. At what age do you charge admission for child?

We charge admission for children age three and above. Children age two and younger are admitted free.

Q. How old must I be to have a membership in my name?

You must be at least 18 years or older to have a membership in your name.

Q. How long will it take to receive my membership cards?

If you come to the Zoo, you will receive temporary cards right away. If you submit your application in person, by mail, fax, online or by phone, your permanent membership cards will be processed and mailed to you within 5 to 7
business days.

Q. How many cards will I receive?

The number of cards you receive is determined by the category you have selected, but no more than two.

Q. Can I loan out my membership card to a family member or friend?

No, your membership card(s) and associated privileges are not transferable to any other individual. Your membership has a tremendous value. To protect the rights of our members, we will ask to see your photo ID, such as a driver's license, at the time of your visit.

Q. Can I use my membership at other zoos?

Yes. Check out the reciprocal zoos section of our Web site for a list of more than 170 other zoos and aquariums for free or discounted admission. We make every effort to keep our list current. These agreements are determined by the other establishment and can change at any time. We recommend that you call ahead to the zoo you plan to visit for their latest information.

Q. What do I do if I lose my membership card?

Call the Membership Services Office to report lost cards or come in to the Zoo's Front Gate. There is a no fee for replacement cards.

Q. Are membership dues refundable or transferable?

No. Membership dues are neither refundable nor transferable.

Q. Are membership dues tax-deductible?

Yes. The Internal Revenue Service has issued guidelines that affect the deductibility of memberships. Under those guidelines, members may deduct the amount of their membership dues, less the fair market value of benefits received. For Individual, Senior Couple, Household Basic and Grandparent level members, the fair market value of benefits received is not substantial. The estimated fair market value of benefits received for other categories such as Household Plus, Grandparent Plus, Penguin Circle and Special Friend is $10.20.

Q. Are there any early or late hours specific to members?

There are early hours only April 1st through October 31st. Members only may enter at 9:30 a.m. - that's 30 minutes earlier than non-members. Higher-level members will also receive invitations to three exclusive after-hours held during the summer.

Q. How will I know when to renew my membership?

You will receive a renewal notice in the mail about two months in advance of your membership's expiration date. You will also receive reminder notices. No matter when you join or renew, you will always receive at least one full year
of membership.
